Tourism and Recreation

Tourism and recreation facilities such as resorts, entertainment precincts, theme parks and sporting complex’s all have large demands for non-potable water in the maintenance and cleaning of amenities, cooling of indoor areas and the accommodation of large crowds. These facilities are also often large in area and have access to substantial volumes of roofwater and stormwater to service these demands.

High water uses suitable for alternative water supply in tourism and recreation facilities include:

 Landscape irrigation;

Cooling tower make-up water;

Toilet flushing;

Water features;

Topping up of swimming pools;

Laundry; and

Vehicle wash.
